Richie walked back into the party, confused about what had happened. He attempted to push it into the back of his head as he watched Eva and her friends run around the backyard trading friendship bracelets. He smiled to himself as he got his phone out of his pocket to take a picture to send you.

After singing Happy Birthday, eating ice cream cake, and opening presents, Richie was finally alone with Tiff. “Oh hey- I thought you left.” she laughed as she picked up empty paper cups to throw in the trash. “Yeah… what did you say to Y/N? She kinda just left… said something about talkin’ to you.” Richie asked, watching Tiffany lose the color in her cheeks. “Richie, I didn’t say anything. I swear.” Richie shook his head, “Nonono, Tiff, you said somethin’... I wanna know what you said.” she sighed and put the trashcan she’d been carrying through the living room down, “Okay- I guess I did say somethin’...” She leaned against the wall, avoiding eye contact with him. “What did you say?!” Richie demanded, trying his best not to yell, “Calm down.” Tiffany warned, crossing her arms over her chest. Richie paused, “Okay, I’m sorry, but what did you say to her?”

 “I think I gave her perspective?” Tiffany swallowed, “On what?” Richie’s face scrunched in frustration. Tiffany pushed her hands through her hair, “Okay, Richie, we’d been together for two years when she was born-” “Tiffany. What did you say.” Richie crossed her arms over his chest and stared down at Tiffany. She entered the kitchen, “I asked if she wanted to travel or get married or have a kid someday…” “I need to get out of here before I lose it.” 

“Daddy?” Eva asked from the top of the stairs as Richie huffed toward the door, “Hey, sweetheart.” he faked a smile, “Are you mad at Mommy?” he shook his head. “Don’t worry that pretty lil head about it. I had fun at your party- did you have fun?” Eva nodded, and Richie’s face softened. “That’s good… Happy Birthday, princess. I love you, okay?” Eva nodded. “I love you too, Daddy.” 

As Richie pulled into his parking spot, he noticed your missing car. Richie felt his heart rate increase as breathing became harder. He haphazardly parked and ran up the stairs. He struggled to get his key in the lock but opened the door, “Baby! You here?!” Richie yelled as soon as he’d entered the apartment. When he got no response, he walked toward your shared bedroom. He noticed your missing shoes from the cubby by the door. He shook his head, refusing to believe you’d leave him without saying anything. “Yo. Baby?” he opened the bedroom door to see the bed made and more of your possessions missing. “No. No. She wouldn’t…” he fished his phone out of his pocket and hit your contact. It immediately went to voice mail. He hung up and dialed again as he paced through your bedroom, looking into the closet to see that some of your clothes were missing. “Baby. Answer the fuckin’ phone.” Richie sighed into his phone when your voicemail came through his speaker. 

Richie walked back into the main part of the apartment and saw a note on the counter. “Sorry to leave you like this, but we want different things. My Dad said he’d come by to pick up the rest of my stuff later in the week. -Y/N” Richie stared at the paper with disbelief. He shook his head, crumpling the paper as he exited the apartment, slamming the door on his way out. You weren’t leaving him like this. 

Richie knew your parents weren’t his biggest fans, but you had to be there. Your car wasn’t parked outside their building, but you had to be there. Richie couldn’t let you leave him like this. Maybe he should have followed you when you’d left the party? He knocked on your parent’s apartment door to reveal your mom, “Richie. What are you doin’ here?” she questioned, surprised at his presence. “Hey, Mrs. Y/L/N, have you heard from Y/N?” “She left your ass, Richard.” your Dad laughed. Richie scoffed, “Have you heard from her?” Richie asked again; your mom nodded. “She said something about self-discovery? I’m not sure; she was a mess.” Richie nodded. “Thank you… can you call me if you hear from her?” she nodded. “I will, Richie.” 

Anger, hurt, confusion… Richie was ripping his hair out at what had happened between the two of you. He thought the two of you were on the same page about marriage and kids. He was sitting at the bar working on the front-of-house schedule when Lily, a friend from your serving days, approached the bar. “Hey, Richieeee…” she grimaced. “No.” Richie answered without looking up, “Richie, I asked Milo and-” “I don’t care. Answers no.” Lily sighed, “Fine. I guess I’ll just tell Y/N-” “Lily. Walk away before I fire you.” he huffed before walking back to the kitchen and into the back alley. 

Before turning the corner to go to his usual smoking spot, he heard some busboys talking about you, “Should I try to shoot my shot again? Y/N’s so fuckin’ hot now.” “Dude, she rejected you last time you tried.” “Yeah, but now she’s on the rebound- bleached her hair, postin’ sad shit on Instagram… I think I have a shot.” “You fuckin’ wish. She’s like a relationship girl, not a rebound girl.” Richie clenched his fist before quickly turning around to go back inside. He needed answers.

A few weeks had passed since the breakup, and on a rare day off, your Dad showed up at Richie’s apartment to pick up the rest of your belongings. While he didn’t like Richie, he could also see that his daughter was a bit harsh in how she’d ended the relationship. The two men awkwardly stood in the living room, “You want a beer or somethin’?” Richie asked, “No. I don’t like you, Richie, but it was cold of Y/N to break up with you the way she had.” Richie chuckled. “Yeah… where is she? She blocked me, but I gotta talk to her.” “You didn’t hear it from me, but she’s at her friend Connie’s place.” 

You slipped your headphones off when you heard yelling coming from outside your bedroom door. “She’s not fuckin’ here!” Connie yelled as you got closer to the door. “That fuckin’ bullshit- her car is outside!” Richie’s voice boomed. You swallowed before leaving the bedroom, “Connie, it’s okay- come on. Let’s get this over with.” you said, beckoning to Richie. He stood there in awe for a moment before sheepishly nodding. 

The two of you stood awkwardly before Richie finally piped up, “Y/N, you can’t just fuckin’ leave me like that.” you sighed. You knew it wasn’t the right way to end the relationship, but the thought of this. conversation triggered many memories from the past, and you couldn’t face Richie. “Richie-” “No. No. This is all bullshit. Just come home, baby.” he pleaded. You shook your head, “Why not?! Do you not love me anymore?” he asked, trying to fight back the urge to throw you over his shoulder and just take you home. “I love you, but I want to get married and maybe have a kid or two-” “Okay. Let’s get fuckin’ married then,” he interjected. You sighed, “Richie, I want you to want to marry me because you want to-.” “You said it was just a piece of paper. What fuckin’ changed?” he was struggling to contain his feelings at that point. “Just- Richie, please just go home.” you pleaded as tears started to form in your eyes, “I love you, Y/N. You wana get married- I’ll marry you. You wanna have a kid- I’ll give you a fuckin’ baby. I want to be with you, Y/N. Just come home, baby.”

You stared down at the floor until you felt Richie’s hands delicately grip your hips. As he pulls you closer to his body, your hands move to his chest and gently push him away. “You should leave Richie,” you whispered, not daring to look up at him. Richie sighed and dropped his hands. You felt his thumb under your chin and allowed it to push your chin up and finally meet his eyes. “I’m not givin’ up on this. Just think about it. Okay?”

Weeks passed, and you couldn’t shake your feelings for Richie. You tried to write it off as your first real relationship. Of course, it would take a while to get over. However, it seemed like everything had just reminded you of him. You tried to focus on your work; you tried to distract yourself with stupid reality TV. You were going to the gym every night. Lily tried to convince you to download Tinder to get your mind off of Richie, and Connie was team ‘get back together with Richie because you’re pathetically in love with him and should’ve never broken up in the first place’; you were stuck between a rock and a hard place. While you couldn’t get the man out of your head, could you really just be happy being his girlfriend forever? You stared up at the ceiling when your phone started vibrating next to you. You sighed and rolled over to see the caller ID was Carmy, “Hello?” you quickly answered, wondering why he’d be calling you at almost midnight.

“Come home already.” Richie’s voice came through the speaker,

“You took Carmy’s phone to call me?”

“The jagoff’s passcode is 1111. He was askin’ for it.”

“Dumbass is gonna get his phone stolen.”

“He left it in the office- practically askin’ for it, ya know?”

“Yea… I miss you.”

“Then come home.”

“I don’t-”

“Y/N, just come home. I need you- I’ve been think’ a lot. I wasn’t the best husband to Tiff, and I guess I'm just scared I won’t be a good one to you either- GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE CARMY I SWEAR TO FUCKIN’ GOD!”

“Can’t really yell at Carmy to get out of the office when you snagged his phone, Richie… but, um, I get what you’re saying.”

“Yea?”

“Yeah.”

“Come home?”

“Okay.”

THE SIX SHOOTER

Radio programas or shows is something of the past. And it has become just that, sadly, something never to go back too. But I loved those shows and still do. However, there are so many things today that occupies one’s mind with an endless bombardment of different media programs on the internet or mobile phone, that there seems to be never enough time for anything.

The Six Shooter is a United States western old-time radio program starring James Stewart as a gunfighter. It was created by Frank Burt, who also wrote many of the episodes, and lasted only one season of 39 episodes on NBC (Sept. 20, 1953–June 24, 1954). One old-time radio directory called the program “a last, desperate effort by a radio network (NBC) to maintain interest in adventure drama by employing a major Hollywood movie star in the leading role.”

The main character, Britt Ponset, a drifting cowboy in the final years of the wild west, was played by James Steward who’s voice you are about to hear. Episodes ranged from straight western drama to whimsical comedy. A trademark of the show was Stewart’s use of whispered narration during tense scenes that created a heightened sense of drama and relief when the situation was resolved.(wikipedia)

James Stewart filmed a television pilot episode titled “The Windmill” featuring Barbara Hale, John McIntire and Edgar Buchanan but it somehow failed to sell. A perfect copy of the episode exists, however, which you can at the end of the paragraph.

The program was later successfully adapted for television in 1957 with John Payne as the star; by that time, Stewart’s career had completely recovered from his initial postwar slump and he was no longer available. An article in a trade publication reported that 39 “half-hour tv films” would be produced “for a series titled The Six Shooter.” Frank Burt was the consultant for all episodes of the adaptation. The pilot episode, titled “The Restless Gun”, aired on 29 March 1957 as an episode of the anthology series Schlitz Playhouse of Stars. John Payne, who would go on to star in the series, played the lead character, Britt Ponsett. But by the time the series, also called The Restless Gun, debuted the following fall, the main character’s name had been changed to Vint Bonner, “a slightly altered rendition of Britt Ponset”.

The Restless Gun is an American Western television series that appeared on NBC between 1957 and 1959, with John Payne in the role of Vint Bonner, a wandering cowboy in the era after the American Civil War. A skilled gunfighter, Bonner is an idealistic person who prefers peaceful resolutions of conflict wherever possible. He is gregarious, intelligent, and public-spirited. how does glassflies work exactly of its a swap?? Where is seth???

So! It's a swap of roles/archetypes but not personality.

The characters still have similar interests, flaws, and even events which have occured in their life in canon, just a few circumstances changed the directory of what ends up happening.

For example, Alex. He still is a film major, he's still dorky with a bit of a perfection streak and an ego, but he managed to finish Marble Hornets. That night after auditions, he never saw the Operator, it chose someone else, so he never had this fear driven spiral.

There are some story changes, setting changes, and just implemented headcanon (such as Tim being a system, and in this AU, Alex is too).

It's both a sort of swap but also "what if" butterfly effect style thing.

For simplicity sake, here are the character/role swaps:

Tim ↔️ Alex

Tim takes up the role as the "antagonist".

Alex takes up the role as the "traumatized support".

Alex said yes to dinner with Brian and Tim and therefore never saw the Operator (though he does have exposure to it from childhood, but he never saw it that night that would trigger his obsession).

Alex developed DID as a child due to a series of traumatic events and injuries. One of his main alters, eventually known as "Messie", fronts when he is in any condition where it's difficult to complete day to day tasks, such as depressive episodes or injury.

Later that night, it came to Tim in his house. Due to the dinner, he was stressed and overwhelmed so "Masky" (different name in this au) took over. The Operator showed up and Masky was hurt really bad. Due to this, he's locked in a repressed state and Tim has to function with Operator exposure here in our without his protection/shield of Masky. He comes to a similar conclusion that Alex did incrhe OG series, that whatever It is is his fault, he's spread it to others, and he needs to stop it before it gets worse.

Brian ↔️ Jay

Brian takes on the role of "protagonist".

Jay takes in the role of "mysterious support".

Due to the sudden deaths, disaapeances, and silence of his friends, Brian decides to start digging deeper into what happened to them. He slowly comes to find that they're all seemingly connected to this awful creature which has started to pay him visits of his own.

Jay was killed by Tim and taken by the operator to the Ark. In a fit of desperation, he gave up his ability to speak as well as a handful of memories in order to escape. Donning a mask, he tries his best to keep Brian away from trouble, and when that quickly proves not possible, he starts to help him in any way he can, later on he does the same for Alex. This masked persona is eventually known as "Birdie".

Sort of like in the OG, Jessica, Amy, and Seth take on side roles, though they also have their own changes of importance, and all three sort of trade rolls.

Amy is the first to die, she had been an accident. Amy had invited Tim to help with set up for some art show. They got talking, about how Tim had gone to the private wing of the school when he was younger and then a bit older. They'd taken a short cut through one of the many closed down halls when the Operator appeared, and without much warning it took her, Tim fled. Tim decided to cover his tracks, returning the next day.

Alex of course had gone looking for his girlfriend when she didn't go home. Tim, afraid of being caught, worried that it would spread, attacked Alex in the halls. He thought he'd killed him and he'd waited, panicked on what to do.

Jay, in suit, ended up looking for Alex. That's when he ran into Tim. Tim dreaded it, because Jay was a friend of his, a close friend he cared a lot for. The Operator took him, tortured him in the ark (like he does multiple times in canon to him and presumably Alex and Jay). He came back, not minutes later, and he'd shot Jay.

Jessica comes later, when Tim moves and gets a job somewhere else, he makes a friend at his workplace, Jessica. They're close and all is well until they're alone in one of the cargo rooms. The Operator appears, and Tim flees, leaving her to it.

A lot happens in-between, but eventually Brian works with Tim to try and figure out what's going on, only to be run in circles. He eventually forces a phone number from Tim, it's Amy's. From there he gets into contact with Alex, who then puts him into contact with Seth, someone who'd been close to Jay. When the time comes, it's Seth who Brian mysteriously seems to be alive with in a hotel, and later it's Seth who mysteriously disappears.

Like I said though, not all of the story follows the same events exactly, and the settings and motivations definitely don't.

The ending also I guess is a bit happier, the core four don't die they just get super traumatized.

This isn’t the first time Tsukki’s seen Kuroo slumped against an alley wall bleeding out. But as time passed he had hoped it would be the last. They met in a situation similar to this, Kuroo had been slumped against the back alley of his apartment building. Tsukki had found him bleeding out when he went to take out the trash. He checked his pulse and as he reached for his phone to call 911, Kuroo opened his eyes and stopped him. 

He couldn’t let him die, so he resorted to trying to inconspicuously haul Kuroo up to his apartment. He ended up slinging his arm over his shoulder, and when one of his neighbors caught him, he said his friend had had a little too much to drink. Tsukki’s patch job had been crude, but it did its job. Kuroo was out for a few days after but every time Tsukki went to call 911, something told him not too, so he didn’t. 

This time the wound was much worse, which is hard because the last time he had a pretty bad gut wound. Tsukki knelt beside him and reached to put pressure on the wound. Kuroo let out a small groan of pain, and Tsukki cringed. It must really hurt he thought. This was all his fault, if he hadn’t saved Kuroo that day, no… if he hadn’t started that stupid fight and stormed off, Kuroo would be fine. He would be bleeding out like that first fateful day.

He still remembers thinking Kuroo might be some escaped psychiatric patient when he said he was a god. It wasn’t until he showed him the almost perfectly healed wound that Tsukki thought he might not be entirely human. When Kuroo refused to leave, he only got an answer of ‘I owe you my life.’ At first, he wished Kuroo’s debt would hurry up and be repaid, but now… now he never wanted it to. 

“Look… I finally- finally repaid that debt,” Kuroo coughed up some blood, "that you hate so much.”

That was a lie, he didn’t hate the debt… anymore. He’d trade his life for Kuroo’s in a heartbeat now. But… during their last fight, the one right before he ran off, he had wished for the debt to be repaid, for Kuroo to leave him alone. That couldn’t be further from the truth, and he realized that now more than ever. 

As kuroo’s eyes began to shut, Tsukki became more and more panicked.

"No. No. No!” he began to raise his voice, “You can’t go! You can’t leave me!” He began to sob, “Please… you can’t… I- I love you.”

He knew Kuroo heard him from the small smile on his lips. And he was glad, glad that he could make Kuroo smile before he died. Do-Do gods die he wondered. It didn’t matter, whether just his body died or his whole existence vanished, Kuroo had no reason to come back to him. Tsukki hates himself for this.

Months pass, what had been a cool fall slowly turned into a frigid winter. That’s why Tsukki found himself at a cafe him and Kuroo used to frequent. It hurt, but he knew he had to move on. That was until the chair in front of him was pulled out. Looking over the edge of his book he wanted to scream.

“Excuse me,” the man with pitch black hair and golden eyes asked smirking, "is this seat taken?”

I know how to farm (thanks to growing up there), I know how to build things, fix broken machinery, etc. But I know nothing about the legalities or logistics of such a thing. There's also the issue that women's land is not nearly as popular as it once was. How do I attract residents and visitors?

Wow, what an amazing situation!! I'm so glad you were able to experience that growing up, and that you're in such an awesome position to take it over and keep growing. To attract residents and visitors, I would list your land in Maize and in Lesbian Connection. Jae Haggard has an online forum where you can get in contact and chat with lots of landdykes and get to know the community. Then you can also do what I'm doing, which is use social media to attract younger demographics of women. (also check out @mistmoonandheart) There's been a resurgence of women interested in separatism, but unfortunately many of them think it's just a daydream. Can you offer travel stipends or residencies to teach other women skills? Can you trade room and board for free labor? These kinds of things make it more possible for women to visit. Don't forget to think about accessibility issues either- many women who travel around to different lands have sensitivities to scents and chemicals (google MCS and EFS), they may want to bring their dog or they may have pet allergies, they may have bad knees or a bad back, or chronic illness. Can you offer wifi for women who need to work remotely? You'll have to think about who you're able to accommodate and who you'd have to advise to stay elsewhere. There's only one other land I know of in New York state, so I would get in contact with them and see what their situation is like as far as attracting people. I know a lot of lesbians who live around NYC who might like a place they could go for a weekend to get a retreat from the city, meet other likeminded women, and host get-togethers in a safe place, so you might be able to host events or festivals or get retreat income from that kind of setup. As for legality, there's a few ways you can go. You can privately own the land and invite other women to come live with you, you can create a land trust, or you can run the land as a nonprofit with a board of directors. Avoiding lawsuits for being a female-only space seems to boil down to keeping your head down and being known mostly by word of mouth, but personally I'd like to get together with other women and start brainstorming better tactics for defending against misogyny from within the legal system. Another thing to think about in terms of what kind of community model you're interested in is whether you're dreaming of fostering an active, close-knit community of women, or whether you'd be happy having women living on the land who mostly mind their own business and live private lives. Or some mix? If you haven't already, get the Maize directory and take a look at all the different lands out there and the different ways they're run. Look into the history of women's land and see what's worked and what's failed, and go visit some lands yourself and get a sense of the vibes. And meet people! Old dykes have the WILDEST stories, and they love to tell them. You're already off to a great start if you understand the finances of your aunt's land and what it takes to keep it running.
